Jonathan Daniels has been appointed commercial director at Financial & Legal Insurance Ltd (FLI), MSL (claims management) and Magnus (ATE broker). All companies are part of Cheshire-based Drive Further Collective.
He begins his new role on 13th June and will report to FLI managing director Karen Beales.
Karen said Jon Daniels is a highly experienced business development professional and will bring both gravitas and new energy to the team.
Karen said: “FLI has performed well both during and after the pandemic.”
“We have altered our strategy by broadening our portfolio out of ATE (after the event) legal expenses insurance into BTE (before the event), as well as launching a number of motor ancillary products for distribution through MGAs and brokers.”
She said: “We are focused on organic growth as opposed to acquisitions, and Jon will be responsible for bringing in more distribution deals with high quality retail brokers and MGAs.”
“Jon’s role will give us the opportunity to improve our cross selling across the various parts of the insurance value chain, as we are keen to leverage the skills and capabilities of the Group.”
Jon Daniels said: “This is a great opportunity to be working with Karen again (both were previously at personal lines MGA UK General), and with the expansion of FLI’s portfolio there are a host of new products coming on line.”
He added: “I’m excited by FLI’s plans to execute its diversification strategy beyond LEI into GI Products, which is already under way, including other products such as home emergency, home buyers, key and warranty.”
“There is a lot of market movement post-pandemic, with new contracts up for grabs as brokers, MGAs and other providers have reflected on their current strategies. I look forward to playing my part in building a successful portfolio for the business.”

Jon was previously commercial director at UK General Insurance, but he began his career in the late 1990’s at General Accident and spent a number of years in business development roles across the life and GI business at Norwich Union. After Norwich Union he spent seven years at Tesco Bank before leaving in 2016 for a sales director role at Vantage, before joining UK General in 2018.
